A call has gone out to Malawi’s Chinese investors to consider revising their working conditions in most of their companies.
Deputy secretary general of Malawi Congress of Trade Union MCTU, Grace Nyirenda gave the call amid rising reports of harsh treatments by these Chinese investors in the country.
MCTU is a body which strives to improve the welfare of workers in the country.
Nyirenda said that research has shown that most companies owned by the Chinese are offering what she termed as poor conditions, hence the need for improvement.
She pointed out the issue of minimum wage that the companies offer to workers as very little as compared to other investors.
There was no immediate comment from representatives of Chinese investors in the country.
